Pauses (on my way to work) 2017
Pauses (on my way to work)
Ink, guache on paper
45cm x 65cm each piece. 25 pieces

Pauses represents a contemplative space within my art practice after a busy period moving from London to Wales. Responding to the wild and relentless growth of the natural world with the order and control of farmers managing the land, I wanted to see how an immersion in the countryside would find its way onto the page.
Pauses are made through a process of going on a journey of exploration, repair and renewal. The random marks and stains, torn and frayed edges emerging in tension with clean crisp lines. What gets tidied and what is left to run wild, travelling through and beyond the page.
