I have been making a connection to my interest in ecological systems, care systems and my experience in business systems and accounting and began asking the question 'what does it mean to give an account?’ My MA Thesis opened up this question to shape my desire to work out how artists and accountants might engage in a dialogue together.
I wanted to bring together ideas about care for people and the environment and explore the damage and consequences of systems failures.  In 2021 this came together with the beginning of a body of work on the Post Office Scandal. 

Red Flag Warning System was created as a response to breakdowns in corporate governance and governance of our country.  I felt an urgent need for imaginative whistle blowing so that the worker on the front line could be heard.  This was directly shaped from my experience as auditor in the 1980s where I acted as a conduit between the workers and the management and gave them a voice in the management letters. I could imagine from my found texts a series of red flags that I could create as a warning system based upon maritime navigation and raising flags up a flag pole.  I imagined a form of anonymous warning signs for any company, perhaps in their reception areas for whistle blowing to become more visible in the workplace.
